Build & Sustain Mental Toughness

Emotions are powerful. They can be the fuel that motivates and at the same time they have the potential to get in the way of our most important business and personal relationships. According to John Kotter of Harvard Business School:

“Because of the furious pace of change in business today, difficult to manage relationships sabotage more business than anything else – it is not a question of strategy that gets us into trouble; it is a question of emotions.”

Success as a leader does not happen by accident. It is a process that occurs as we choose how to deal with events and circumstances placed in front of us. Each moment provides an opportunity to make critical decisions and work toward victory by expanding our vision, “stretching out” to accomplish our goals, and assuming full responsibility for living, growing and contributing.

You will learn the 5 key skills of Emotional Intelligence:

  • Personal Awareness – The ability to recognize your influence on others.
  • Integrity – The ability to let your intentions match your actions.
  • Internal Motivation – The ability to do the right things for the right reasons.
  • Empathy – The ability to recognize the emotions of others.
  • Social Skills – The ability to build positive relationships.

Build Positive Relationships

“Know Thyself” –Socrates was right. The belief that the first step in unraveling any challenge in any relationship is to understand one’s self. Once the skill of personal awareness is fully activated, appreciation for others and the ability to work together becomes a reality.

After completing a 30-minute survey, participants will receive a detailed report on their behavioral style and the motivational factors that move them to action. From this report, they will gain a better understanding of themselves and others, as well as the value and unique blend of the strengths they bring to their team. Additionally, they will gain insight on the how and why of different communication styles of those they are in contact with daily.

This level of knowledge will prevent feelings of defeat and offer opportunities for influencing others. When positive relationships are established, teams experience long-term positive results of collaboration and synergy.

Create Actionable Goals

A person’s level of success, is many times, in direct proportion with what they set out to accomplish. For this reason, goals can be seen as a vital component for success in business. The way goals are defined and stated provides the make-or-break difference.

This session on Creating Actionable Goals will help you establish focus. You will learn that while dreams are important, they won’t become reality unless they are stated as measurable goals. Once measurable, they will become part of the strategic foundation for success in your business and personal life.

You will learn to:

  • Create S.M.A.R.T. goals.
  • Identify the difference between dreams & well-stated goals.

  • Identify your personal motivation for your own goal achievement.

Leverage Your Time

Time is every human being’s single greatest non-replenishable resource. Even though it’s often stated otherwise, it’s not possible to save it, invest it or borrow it. However, it is possible to use it more effectively. Success in business is contingent on setting goals and allocating quality time against highly leveraged activities to accomplish those goals. While time management may improve efficiencies, it doesn’t always improve effectiveness.

You will learn to:

  • Delegate anything that isn’t part of your unique capability.
  • Focus more than 85% of your time on important / non-urgent activities.
  • Frontload in order to establish yourself as the leader.
  • Eliminate time wasters.

Motivate Your Team

Leaders and managers attempting to motivate their teams to solve complex problems using extrinsic motivation may notice a low level of emotional intelligence. This creates a defensive win/lose or lose/win environment where people fear losing something they have, missing out on the opportunity to get something they want or someone thinking less of them if they fail. Gone are the days of carrot and stick motivation. If you are gong to lead your team in the new normal, you must create an environment that promotes synergy through intrinsic motivation. For synergy to exist, perseverance must be high and the maturity level must be that of collaboration.

You will learn to:

  • Promote synergy through intrinsic motivation.
  • Be a leader who inspires others to be the best they can be.
  • Create an environment of accountability and trust.

Be an Effective Coach

Effective coaches empower their teams to utilize critical thinking skills in order to remain motivated, solve complex problems and collaborate. If you are going to be an effective coach, then you must be clear about the mission, vision and the core values of your organization. Your job is to keep your team focused on them. When you are consistent with performance measurements against your organization’s core values and hold your team accountable to them, you will notice growth and change.

Coaches have a unique opportunity to provide leadership needed to influence long-term success in their organizations. Make no mistake about it, your team desires a healthy relationship with you. They want to grow and develop and are looking for you to take the lead! It’s imperative that you embrace the opportunity to be a positive influence by being an effective coach.

  • You will learn to:
  • Be an effective coach.
  • Hold your team accountable to accomplishing their goals.
  • Be a manager that leads with positive reinforcement and encouragement.

Hold Your Team Accountable

Accountability not only increases productivity, it increases predictability of results. Leaders will realize a dramatic impact on team performance and behavior when they make accountability a priority. They will notice the members of their team stepping up to protect the interests of the organization and making efforts to continuously improve performance.

You will learn to:

  • Establish expectations for behavior needed to accomplish organizational goals and objectives.
  • Develop a communication bridge between accountability and trust.
  • Create non-negotiables to protect your team.

Build an Environment of Trust

An environment built on trust is a direct result of great leadership. This type of environment allows all members of a team to work together and achieve exponential results. As an effective leader, your role isn’t to provide the answers, it’s to develop your team and create an environment where solutions are developed through synergy. When trust exists, high performing teams are able to accomplish short-term objectives and attain long-range financial goals. This session offers practical instruction that has helped thousands of business owners, managers and sales people grow stronger.

You will learn to:

  • Develop a legacy-driven mindset.
  • Create a synergistic environment where everyone works together to accomplish a common goal.
